You should pay special attention to your dog’s paws. In winter, lumps of snow and salt can put a lot of strain on your dog’s paws, and in summer, hot asphalt, loose gravel and so on. We at CANELO know this problem all too well. That’s why we have thought about it. Which natural ingredients can be used to care for and regenerate stressed, cracked dog paws? We have found this out for you and have developed a paw balm that naturally cares for your paws all year round.
Does pure fat help with paw care?
Vaseline, milking grease and others are popular fats for paw care. But have you ever thought about what pure fat does to your dog’s paws? These pure artificial fats are synthetically produced from crude oil. They offer a good protection of the paws against external environmental influences, but unfortunately they are not very sustainable, absolutely artificial and can stick to your dog’s paws in the long run. In addition to that, creaming with pure fat leaves unsightly paw tapes on the floor. Better: you choose a so-called emulsion of water and natural fats and oils. Just like you know it from your face cream, for example. The combination of water and fats or oils has the advantage that the paws are protected from harmful environmental influences by the fat phase and at the same time are moisturised by the water phase without sticking together. That is why we have chosen a combination of fats, oils and a water phase with caring herbal extracts for CANELO Paw Balm.
Which natural ingredients are particularly suitable for paw care?
We did a lot of research on which fats, oils and extracts are especially good for your dog and came across a combination of shea butter, olive oil, lavender oil and hamamelis extract. Shea butter has a refatting and calming effect and makes dry dog paws particularly supple. In combination with olive oil – which has a moisturising and protective effect due to its special composition – shea butter is therefore ideally suited for the care of stressed dog paws. Lavender oil can have antiseptic and antibacterial effects. Two properties that are particularly important in paw care. Witch hazel is always a great ingredient when it comes to skin regeneration. Witch hazel soothes irritated skin, has an anti-inflammatory effect, and has cooling, skin-soothing and particularly antioxidant properties. Perfect for the care of stressed dog paws.
What else do I have to consider when caring for my paws?
Before you spoil your dog’s paws with a caring balm, they should be cleaned. After all, you don’t want to rub the “dust of the street” into the paws. The best way to do this is a small paw bath or wiping the paws with a towel dipped in lukewarm water. If the paws are particularly dirty, we recommend adding a few drops of dog shampoo to the water. It is best to use the fragrance-free CANELO Classic Shampoo with pure natural soaps and nettle extract. In this way, you can prepare your pet’s paws optimally for the application of the paw care.
